After 8 years with Credit Suisse's foreign exchange and money market divisions and Credit Suisse Asset Management's investment fund unit for retail, private and institutional banking, he joined SAM Sustainable Asset Management, where he was involved in building up the company in the early stages. Parallel to this he founded a consulting firm specializing in environmental issues and in 1999 embarked on two years of extensive travel to experience life in rural areas of Africa.

After working in corporate and investment banking and credit risk management at Credit Suisse, he joined Zurich Financial Services, where he helped set up the group treasury organization and led complex capital market transactions. Later he was responsible for setting up and heading the investor relations unit of a listed private equity vehicle. Before joining responsAbility, Christian Speckhardt was Head of Group Treasury at Cablecom. He has a degree in business and an MBA from the University of Zurich.

Rochus is a member of the Manangement Board and heads the equity investments team. Before joining responsAbility on a permanent basis in July 2008, he worked for the company as an external consultant and independent member of the investment committee. In his capacity as a consultant, Rochus worked on sector-specific issues in more than 40 countries, helped design the legal basis and practical oversight framework for microfinance in 8 countries, and for a number of years played a key supporting role in the expansion of ProCredit Holding in Latin America. As a member of the research team, Christian Etzensperger is responsible for thematic research, especially social performance measurement. He also works on the preparation and communication of research content as well as on country analysis. Following his studies in economics in Fribourg, Switzerland, and Madrid, Spain, he completed a post-graduate program in development economics at the University of Glasgow. He gained practical experience during a six-month internship at the human rights NGO Peace Brigades International. After that, he worked as quantitative analyst for Bank Vontobel and three years in the economics department of Credit Suisse, where he was responsible for industry analyses and the SME segment.

Dr. Pius Fischer, Head Investment Analysis
Pius heads the team responsible for comprehensive credit analyses of microfinance institutions about to embark on transactions. He is a trained economist (with a degree from the University of Bern and postgraduate qualifications in international business relations from the University of Konstanz), and has more than ten years of professional experience in development cooperation. Between 1995 and 2005 he was engaged in teaching and research at the NADEL unit for postgraduate development studies at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich and also worked as an advisor to organizations such as the World Bank and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC/DEZA). His PhD dissertation on rent-seeking in Tanzania earned him a special award (Preis der Stiftung Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft) from the University of Konstanz and was published by Springer New York.

As an Investment Analyst, Mirza is part of our analysis team. He is primarily responsible for analyzing microfinance investments in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the Caucasus region. Between 2005 and 2009 he was employed in the Corporate and Investment Banking Department of Credit Suisse Zurich. During this time, he actively structured mergers and acquisitions in various industries in Switzerland. Mirza also participated in a number of capital market transactions. He studied Business Management at the University of St. Gallen, majoring in Financial and Capital Markets, and subsequently graduated from the law school of the University of St. Gallen.

He subsequently spent two years as Head of Retail Banking at a Zurich branch of Bank Leu. She has an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering from INTEC in the Dominican Republic.

Prior to this, she worked as a Product Manager for Partners Group AG, Zug, where her duties included client reporting and communication as well as the organization of annual general meetings for Limited Partnership products. From 1999 to 2003 he worked in retail banking and capital markets with a strong focus on the Brazilian financial markets. During this time, he participated in setting up an online brokerage company and was certified as a social entrepreneur by the SHELL International Entrepreneurship Program in 2002 for his work in the disadvantaged communities of Rio de Janeiro within the context of a non-profit project called Programa Despertae. Marco Rosini, Senior Investment Manager
As Senior Investment Manager of responsAbility, Marco is responsible for fair trade and sustainable agriculture investments. Marco has 17 years of professional experience in the banking industry. After 6 years at Crédit Lyonnais, he joined the structured commodity finance department of Société Générale as a director. Marco was in charge of structured soft commodities transactions - e.g. cotton, cacao, coffee, sugar and fertilizers - in Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
During a sabbatical leave, Marco worked on a credit rating project for fair trade producer organizations sponsored by Max Havelaar France and subsequently by the fair trade Labelling Organization (FLO).
Marco has a degree in finance and business administration from the University of Venice, Italy, and took part in an exchange program with the French business school ESCP. As native speaker of Italian, Marco is also fluent in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.

Nancy is a senior investment analyst on the analysis team. Her main role is analyzing microfinance investments in Latin America and in responsAbility's fair trade portfolio. From 2004 to 2007, Nancy worked at ProCredit banks in Serbia and Angola as an IPC GmbH banking advisor. During her two-year stay in Angola, she actively helped extend the branch network and gained comprehensive experience on the operational side of the microfinance business. Nancy has a commercial diploma in international business, which she gained after her training in tax consulting and financial accounting.

Fred Werneck, Senior Equity Analyst
Fred joined responsAbility's Equity Investments team in January 2009. He holds a degree in Economics from IBMEC Business School (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and an MBA from London Business School. From 2000 to 2006 he worked as an investment banker in Latin America, first for Dresdner Kleinwort and subsequently for Rio Bravo Investmentos. During this time, he actively participated in Mergers & Acquisitions transactions in various sectors and countries, including Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Bolivia and Chile. During, and after his studies in London, Fred worked in the carbon finance team at the specialized investment bank Climate Change Capital (CCC). At CCC, Fred focused on carbon credit related investments in emerging markets and the USA.
