Decouple Growth and Emissions
If your goal is to reach net zero emissions by 2050, divestment and exclusionary strategies are not going to work, as the greatest opportunities for CO2 reduction are in the sectors with the highest emissions.
For instance, energy generation and energy use are the largest sources of CO2 emissions. Other hard to abate sectors include steel-, cement-, and plastics -industry, and aviation & shipping.
Just as the human population continues to grow, so will these sectors. Therefore accelerated action and investments are required in order to decouple growth from emissions.
