The voluntary carbon market has recently crossed the bar of USD 2.0 billion in value. In recent times, an increasing number of corporates make use of the voluntary carbon market to offset their emissions. This has created a substantial number of opportunities for project developers and financiers. Unfortunately, this growth was also accompanied by crashes and controversies. In such a rapidly growing and technical market, it is not always easy to perceive all the risks associated with carbon projects. Together with our Head of Climate Advisory Specialists, and our external guest speaker Szymon Mikolajczyk (Climate Focus B.V.), we will provide you with an introduction to the difference between compliance and voluntary carbon market, an overview of the voluntary carbon market. as well as an overview on price, certification and climate policy opportunities and risks. You will learn:
- Which climate policies have shaped the voluntary carbon market
- Who are the main actors in the voluntary carbon market
- How carbon prices have evolved over time and excpectations for the future
