Investing In Change: Reducing Pesticide Risks for People and the Environment

Join us for a special Webinar in celebration of The International Day for Biodiversity.
Pesticides remain a central tool in global agriculture, used by both large companies and smallholder farmers to protect crops and ensure food production. Yet the widespread use of certain chemicals—especially those classified as Highly Hazardous Pesticides (HHPs)—raises serious concerns about their long-term impact on human health, ecosystems, and water systems. In this webinar, we explore how the investment community can contribute to addressing these challenges through clear standards, responsible financing, and support for transition strategies. We'll discuss how pesticides are currently categorized by international bodies, where those classifications fall short, and what it means for investors. By focusing on research, integrated pest management practices, and responsible phase out plans for HHPs, participants will gain a comprehensive view of how to support sustainable agriculture while managing exposure to pesticide-related risks.
The session will also touch on how country policy frameworks can complement private sector action—creating a more stable and investable environment for ESG-focused investors, DFIs, and impact capital seeking long-term systemic impact.
What you will take away:
Discover pathways for supporting the transition to safer and more sustainable agriculture, including the role of integrated pest management (IPM), policy influence, and long-term investment strategies.
Learn how to identify and categorise high-risk pesticide practices using global classification systems and explore practical frameworks for responsible investment and engagement.
Gain a clearer understanding of the risks and impacts of pesticide use—including health, environmental, and reputational concerns—and how these affect agricultural production and investment decisions.
Who should attend:
Investors, industry professionals, and anyone passionate about making a meaningful impact through sustainable finance.
