responsAbility and Ipak Yuli Bank Strengthen Green Finance Partnership in Uzbekistan
Zurich, 6 November 2026 – responsAbility has deepened its partnership with Ipak Yuli Bank by providing a new facility of USD 15 million. The new six-year facility will support the continued growth of the bank’s renewable energy and energy-efficiency portfolio in Uzbekistan.
Ipak Yuli Bank has fully deployed the previous USD 20 million provided by responsAbility, financing eligible green projects including electric mobility and solar solutions for businesses and households in Uzbekistan. The latest financing builds on this existing partnership and will enable the bank to further expand its financing for renewable energy and energy-efficiency projects.
The partnership will also explore opportunities to strengthen climate-risk assessment practices within Ipak Yuli Bank, complementing the provision of long-term financing for green projects.
Uzbekistan has prioritised green growth as part of its development agenda towards 2030, including the expansion of renewable energy, wider adoption of energy-efficient technologies and increased private-sector investment. Against this backdrop, long-term financing for green projects can play an important role in supporting investment in the country’s energy transition.
David Diaz Formidoni, Head of Financial Institutions Investments, Climate Finance at responsAbility, said: “Local financial institutions have a central role to play in transitioning economies towards a cleaner and more secure energy future. Through our continued partnership with Ipak Yuli Bank, we are helping to expand financing for renewable energy and energy-efficiency projects for businesses and households in Uzbekistan.”
Umidjon Khakimov, Chairman of the Management Board of Ipak Yuli Bank, said: “Our continued partnership with responsAbility is an important step in expanding access to green finance in Uzbekistan. This long-term financing will enable us to further support businesses and households in adopting renewable energy solutions and energy-efficient technologies. We remain committed to integrating sustainability into our banking activities and contributing to Uzbekistan’s transition towards a greener, more energy-efficient economy.”
