responsAbility Announces Agreement for the Sale of Bank Lviv to Crédit Agricole Ukraine
Zurich / Lviv, 11 March 2026 – responsAbility Investments AG, a leading impact asset manager specializing in private market investments in emerging economies, has entered into an agreement to sell its shares in Bank Lviv to Crédit Agricole Ukraine, together with its co‑shareholders.
In 2017, responsAbility invested in Bank Lviv with the ambition to use an existing, well‑managed regional bank as the basis for building a leading SME lender in Western Ukraine. This plan was developed and executed by Bank Lviv’s new management team in partnership with Inspiring Development, a management consulting firm specializing in financial institutions.
Since 2017 Bank Lviv has delivered exceptional growth, including more than ninefold expansion of its loan book and consistent double‑digit profitability. The bank significantly grew its client base, currently serving over 37,000 individuals and more than 8,400 business clients.
The acquisition by Crédit Agricole Ukraine provides a solid foundation for the next phase of Bank Lviv’s growth, supported by an international banking group with deep experience serving Ukraine’s SME and agricultural sectors.
Volodymyr Tsapko, Head of Financial Inclusion Equity at responsAbility, said: “Growth and transformation achieved by Bank Lviv reflects the professionalism, commitment, and resilience of its leadership and employees. We are deeply grateful to the team’s remarkable dedication and their success in serving clients and growing the business at wartime. We believe Crédit Agricole Ukraine is well positioned to support Bank Lviv’s next chapter. We believe that the success of our investment in Bank Lviv is a testament to the resilience of the Ukraine’s economy and private sector despite the war. responsAbility remains committed to supporting Ukraine’s leading private companies in our target sectors.”
Laurent Aguilar, Principal, Financial Inclusion Equity at responsAbility, said: “Since 2017, our focus has been to support the development of a modern, client‑centric bank underpinned by strong governance and a clear strategy. It has been a pleasure to work alongside the management team of Bank Lviv, Inspiring Development, and fellow shareholders throughout this journey, and we thank them for their partnership and commitment.”
Completion of the transaction is expected in 2026 and is subject to customary regulatory approvals by the National Bank of Ukraine and the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine.
The sellers were advised by FinPoint, acting as financial advisor, and Sayenko Kharenko as legal counsel.
