responsAbility Awarded the LuxFLAG Label in Microfinance

Zurich – April 18, 2024 – All four microfinance funds of responsAbility have once again been awarded the prestigious LuxFLAG label, which is valid for twelve months from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025. This accolade is a testament to responsAbility's dedication to its vision of a sustainable world with access to opportunities for all, and its mission to mobilize capital in emerging markets to achieve financial returns while also generating a positive societal impact.

The LuxFLAG Microfinance Label distinguishes funds whose investments genuinely flow through microfinance institutions (MFIs) into the microfinance sector. These institutions are crucial in providing financial services to those in emerging countries who are underserved by traditional banking services.

Vision and Mission: Paving the Way for Financial Inclusion

Financial inclusion aims to make financial services accessible to a large number of people in developing countries who currently lack access to banking services. Moreover, many of the smallest, small, and medium-sized enterprises in these regions are considered underserved, leading to a significant annual financing shortfall. Investments in this area not only provide essential capital but also result in positive side effects such as local job creation, poverty reduction, empowerment of women, and improvements in areas such as education, health, and sanitation.

A Seal of Quality with Tradition: LuxFLAG and responsAbility

The four microfinance funds have been marked with the LuxFLAG quality seal since 2008. LuxFLAG is an independent and international non-profit organization established in Luxembourg in July 2006 by seven private and public founding members to support sustainable finance: the Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Luxembourg Insurance and Reinsurance Association (ALFI), the Luxembourg Bankers' Association (ABBL), the non-profit association Appui au développement autonome (ADA), the European Investment Bank, the Luxembourg financial sector development agency (Luxembourg for Finance), and the Luxembourg Stock Exchange (founding members). In 2023, the ACA became the eighth Charter Member of LuxFLAG.
