Zurich / Singapore, 7 April 2026 - responsAbility will invest up to USD 15 million on behalf of its investors in Skye Renewables Energy Pte Limited, a renewable energy platform headquartered in Singapore with operations in the Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia. The funding will support Skye Renewables in expanding its portfolio of distributed renewable energy projects across Southeast Asia. The investment is part of responsAbility’s USD 500 million climate investment strategy for Asia, which targets scalable private-sector infrastructure solutions that contribute to measurable CO₂ reduction in high-growth markets across the region. This transaction also marks responsAbility’s entry into the climate finance markets of Malaysia and the Philippines.

Skye Renewables focuses on renewable energy infrastructure for commercial and industrial (C&I) clients in Southeast Asia. The company develops and operates rooftop solar and integrated utility services. Target sectors include shopping malls, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, retail and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), among others.

With this funding, Skye Renewables plans to scale its project portfolio in Southeast Asia, aiming to increase its installed capacity to several hundred MWp within five years. This growth is expected to support the region’s rising energy demand while contributing to the UN's Net Zero objectives.

Ross Coull, Founder of Skye Renewables, said: “Having a firm of responsAbility’s calibre and experience providing funding to Skye is very exciting and a testament to the great work by our team since we started in 2021. We hope that this is the start of a long and multi-faceted relationship with responsAbility.”

Rohit Anand, Managing Director and Head of Asia Infrastructure and Climate Direct Investments at British International Investment, the UK’s development finance institution and an investor in Skye Renewables, said: “The partnership with responsAbility marks a significant milestone in Skye Renewables’ growth. This facility will help scale projects across Southeast Asia and support C&I clients in meeting their decarbonisation goals through reliable, high‑quality renewable energy. As an existing investor, we’re pleased to have supported Skye in securing this landmark financing from responsAbility.”

Toshifumi Yokoyama, Director and General Manager at Shoseki International K.K., representing Idemitsu Kosan, an existing investor in Skye Renewables, said: “As an existing investor in Skye Renewables, we are pleased to see the company continue to strengthen its platform through partnerships with credible and experienced investors such as responsAbility. This investment will support Skye’s efforts to scale practical renewable energy solutions across Southeast Asia and contribute to the region’s broader energy transition.”

Jay Bathija, Principal, Climate Infrastructure Investments at responsAbility, said: “Skye Renewables represents the type of Southeast Asia–focused platform we seek to back, one that combines local market insight with scalable execution. This investment supports the continued expansion of clean energy solutions across the region and aligns with our strategy to scale climate infrastructure investments in high-growth Asian markets.”

The investment in Skye Renewables Energy is part of responsAbility’s climate investment strategy for Asia, a USD 500 million initiative focused on accelerating the decarbonisation of key economic sectors in emerging and developing Asian markets. The strategy targets scalable infrastructure platforms with strong regional execution capacity, aiming to mobilise private capital towards the energy transition in fast-growing economies.

Skye is an energy-as-a-service solar company with operations in Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam, and is backed by Idemitsu Kosan Co. Ltd, a Japanese diversified energy group, and British International Investment, the UK’s development finance institution.
