responsAbility Invests up to USD 25 Million in Roserve Enviro to Expand Water Treatment in India
India Zurich / Mumbai, 23 January 2026 – responsAbility will invest up to USD 25 million in Roserve Enviro, a Mumbai-based provider of energy-efficient wastewater treatment solutions for industrial clients across India. The transaction is part of responsAbility’s climate investment strategy for Asia, which targets scalable low-carbon technologies with measurable CO₂ reduction potential.
Roserve Enviro designs, builds and operates decentralized wastewater recycling and desalination systems for large industrial clients across India. Through a build‑own‑operate‑transfer (BOOT) model, the company enables clients to meet environmental compliance standards without upfront capital expenditure, while supporting more efficient and circular water use.
Founded in 2016, Roserve Enviro is a joint venture between Concord Enviro Systems Limited, a listed Indian water treatment company, and the Danish Climate Investment Fund, managed by Impact Fund Denmark (IFU), Denmark’s development finance institution. Its customers include leading Indian manufacturers across sectors such as Automotive, Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Food & Beverages. The company applies advanced technologies such as Reverse Osmosis (RO), Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) and Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP) and serves customers in sectors including pharmaceuticals, textiles, food and beverages and automotive.
Climate impact through industrial water reuse and decentralized infrastructure
The investment will support Roserve Enviro’s expansion into larger-scale BOOT projects and accelerate the deployment of decentralized water infrastructure across India’s industrial base. By enabling reuse of treated wastewater and reducing freshwater withdrawals, Roserve Enviro contributes to lower indirect CO₂ emissions from energy-intensive water supply and treatment processes.
The investment aligns with responsAbility’s climate investment strategy for Asia, which focuses on scalable solutions in renewable energy, energy efficiency, e-mobility and circular economy. The strategy targets total avoided emissions of approximately 16 million tons of CO₂ over the lifetime of its investments1, backed by a rigorous climate impact assessment and monitoring framework.
Kewal Shah, Investment Officer at responsAbility, said: "Roserve Enviro is addressing one of India’s most pressing industrial challenges: sustainable water management. Its BOOT model enables large industrial clients to treat and reuse wastewater efficiently while maintaining regulatory compliance. This investment supports the company’s scale-up and underlines our commitment to climate-aligned infrastructure that creates measurable impact."
Prayas Goel, Chairman and Managing Director at Concord Enviro and Board Member at Roserve Enviro, said: "Roserve Enviro is India’s first and pre-eminent platform offering Industrial waste water reuse and ZLD solutions on a BOOT basis. This is our second collaboration with responsAbility that will enable Roserve scale the water as a service offering for Indian industry in their quest for water security by offering innovative and energy efficient solutions."
