responsAbility Supports Renewable Energy Expansion in Argentina Through Financing to Genneia
Zurich, 4 September 2026 – responsAbility Investments AG has participated in a financing for Genneia, one of Argentina's leading renewable energy companies, to support the development of four solar parks in the country. The transaction, completed alongside IDB Invest as Mandated Lead Arranger, BBVA and ILX, contributes to the mobilisation of private capital for renewable energy infrastructure in a market where access to long-term financing remains constrained.
The financing will support the development of four solar parks: San Juan Sur, San Rafael, Lincoln and Junín. Together, the projects are expected to expand renewable energy generation capacity in Argentina. As the country continues to diversify its energy mix, investments in renewable energy infrastructure play an important role in strengthening energy security and supporting long-term economic development.
Genneia is among the leading renewable energy companies in Argentina and has established a significant presence in the country's renewable energy sector, with approximately 2.1 GW of installed capacity across wind and solar assets. The company develops, builds and operates renewable power generation projects and supplies electricity to the Commercial and Industrial sector through long-term power purchase agreements. The transaction brings together international financing partners to support the continued expansion of solar energy generation in a market which continues to face a scarcity of private capital, as international investors remain highly constrained in taking exposure due to persistent macroeconomic volatility and foreign exchange risks.
